Fair Trade Friday Event

I am really moved by the ministry of Fair Trade Friday and the work they are doing to help women. So I decided it would be really neat to host an event that would help raise awareness about the organization and help support these women by selling some of the things they have made by hand.  
It turned out to be a very yucky rainy day but it was lovely to have a steady stream of women stopping by all day! The show was a big success and most everything sold.  Yay!

This morning was a busy one, meals to make, cleaning to do and a BIG Costco trip!  Jake was a trooper through all of it - and was an especially large help after Costco with unloading the car. So after lunch he requested to go outside so we did...he also requested to take "his" camera. We had such a sweet little walk.  So neat to see the way he sees - everything is cool enough for a picture and there is absolutely no rush whatsoever!  Love this boy and thoroughly enjoyed our morning.

Brian's Birthday - 39

Brian turned 39 this year.  It wasn't the most exciting day ever -- it started off with an oil change in his car, breakfast at home with the kids and then the stomach bug!  Yuck!  John and Rhonda came to visit which was lovely...just difficult for the birthday boy.  Next year's the big one!!!!

John's birthday

It was a joy and a pleasure to celebrate John's (Opa's) birthday a few days early this year.

Mom turns 71

We have to celebrate Grammie's birthday early now because she always gets to go to FL for her birthday - we are happy for her!  This year Jake helped mom make cupcakes. He put all the wrappers in the cupcake pans all by himself...can you tell?  He was SO happy with himself.

Next he helped me decorate them - half an oreo and sprinkles (jimmies he says) on top.  The jimmies just would not stay on the icing.  Oh well, Grammie loved them anyway.
